    JOB SUMMARY:

    Create, edit, and organize highly technical information and turn it into compelling and useful content for internal and external audiences.  Collaborative personality with the ability to work independently.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Shadow engineers and technicians performing the work/process and create process instructions/documentation from observations, notes and photographs
    • Creating process instructions covering all areas including work, process, test, training and user manuals for production and testing
    • Producing all documentation independently
    • Holding discussions for drafts of documents effectively with relevant parties and determine the actions needed to release the documents for use
    • Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals
    • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
    • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content
    • Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
    • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of technical documentation
    • Contributing to a continuous improvement culture by developing and implementing enhancements based on lean manufacturing concepts

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Excellent written language abilities
    • Comfort preparing for and conducting informational interviews with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
    • 5 or more years of direct experience working within an industrial facility.
    • Background creating content with input from a variety of stakeholders.
    • Capable of summarizing and simplifying complex ideas for general, non-technical consumption.
    • Able to learn about, understand, and synthesize new learnings in a technical area.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
    • Proven experience working in a technical writing position
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail is an absolute
    • Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
    • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES:  This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor rendering guidance to other positions in the department.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENTThis job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
